In order to protect the innocent, I will change the facts about the guy i know in the following story:
I was talking with a guy I went to college with the other day named "Hank". "Hank" works at "Best Buy". I was asking him how things were going, etc. Things are good. "Hank's" busy with work. I know that Hank used to want to act.
I asked,"Are you still wanting to act?"
He said,"Yeah, but I'm just going where life takes me."
What?!?
What the hell does that mean?
Life took you to Best Buy.
"I'm going where life takes me" is a lazy excuse.
It's a fearful excuse.
The implication of this statement is that things will just fall in your lap. The life you lead is given to you.
If this is what you believe , then life is going to take you down the easiest road possible. A road where you don't have to make choices. A road where there is no risk.
If I had went to where life was taking me, I wouldn't be in LA.
Instead:
I went where my dreams were taking me.
I went where my heart was taking me.
I went to the place where I could make things happen.
If you want to act, take action.
You better PREACH this word!!!!! I just raised you an online offering on Facebook lol....WOW!!! Awesome post.
ReplyDeleteThanks Danyol! I feel pretty strongly about this topic. Thinking about doing a multi part series of posts on excuses. Thanks for spreading the word on Facebook!
