Get in the Kitchen!

Here's the question that we all have to answer before we move to LA to pursue acting:

Should I stay where I am, build up credits, and then move to LA?

The answer is no.

If your goal is to be a working actor in Los Angeles, then you NEED to be in Los Angeles.

I'll quote the guys from InsideActing and say, "get your ass out here."

Seriously.

Here's the thing: all of the acting and training you do in Dallas or Portland is good for you. It's building you as an actor but you can do it all in LA and gain so much more.

For example, doing a play in Dallas is just as great as doing a play in LA. The difference is that people from LA aren't going to see you in your play in Dallas.

Billy Crystal says, "if you hang around the kitchen long enough they have to give you something to eat."

LA is the kitchen.

Get out here.

You'll never regret it.

  1. I totally agree with you Donald. Couldn't have said it better myself. So often we STOP our own journey by waiting on something that is waiting on US. Great blog, keep it up, I read EVERY SINGLE ONE!!!!

    1. Thanks Danyol! I really like the way you put it, "We're waiting on something that's waiting on US." Amen! If you want it, go after it. Every. Single. Time.
